I'd suggest posting ideas for fleshed out heroines in the secret spoiler section. Just pick a unique shark species and go from there. Shark-chan's a tiger shark. I'd definitely like a hammerhead shark. A thresher and a whale shark would be nice. Pun based names would also work, i.e. nurse shark, blue shark, lemon shark(Zero no Tsukaima reference. I think I've mentioned my blacktip/whitetip shark twin idea a few times. There are also basking sharks, goblin sharks, sawtooth sharks, bull sharks, mako sharks, zebra sharks, leopard sharks, the list goes on. So take your pick, and then give them a personality sharkality.
Or do the reverse and maybe create a human character you would find interesting, and then sharkify it.
Edit: If we want to lean towards the parody route, we could make characters that are obviously one stereotype in the beginning: yandere, dandere, kuudere, the deres go on... but we flesh out their personalities and make them more unique as the story proceeds though.
I'm also currently reserving great white sharks for a loli character(without a route) and her onii-chan.

I think we should have a kuudere as well. A sort of cold character like a Yuki Nagato or a Rei Ayanami. Those are pretty typical.
EDIT: Incidentally, do we really need a secret spoiler section in the first place? I feel like coming to this forum in the first place is sort of informed consent about game knowledge.

Good kuudere material? Basking sharks are pretty passive. We should also have a Yamato Nadeshiko, but I haven't found any sharks that really fit that personality to me yet. On a different note, I found this: Cross-species social hierarchies exist. For example, oceanic whitetip sharks dominate silky sharks of comparable size during feeding. Would an oceanic whitetip shark ojou with a silky shark maid be suitable? |

I like the idea of a cookie-cutter shark who is a kissing fiend. But there is a twist! You can't kiss her because she would bite off your face. Or your breath mask, whichever is appropriate. This is what they look like:  As for maids, I think a remora or other cleaner fish (shrimp?) would be cooler because they do actually clean up after real sharks. Also remora sometimes attach themselves to scuba divers:  |

Ok, just read through the google doc, and I have a couple of thoughts.
1. I LOVE the name 'Undawata' Highschool. Brilliant and yet so cheesey.
2. I think it would be too hard for Scuba-Chan not to be able to understand what the sharks are saying. Maybe he is able to understand sharks perfectly, and the fact that he understands is never brought up or questioned, kind of like in Hatoful Boyfriend? (A visual novel where you date pidgeons)
3.I love the idea of representing different shark species!
4. I had no idea katawa shoujo took so long to make. that. is. insane.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say that you guys are doing great! Everyone is respecting each other's ideas and we're actually beginning to see a cohesive idea of what the VN will look like! Awesome job!
Next step is to take the ideas that everyone agrees on and to lock them down, and refine them. I'm going to churn out a rough draft premise the next time I'm not in massive amounts of kidney stone-induced pain. For now, keep being creative and start your writing practice!
Please practice by creating a short dialogue scene between one of the proposed characters and Scuba-kun. The scene could be about anything and there is no minimum or maximum length. They don't have to be perfect but I do want you to show me your stuff! We'll be looking at them next Friday and not a moment sooner! Good Luck my writers!!

I definitely like the idea of having different types of sharks (i.e. hammerhead, whale shark, etc) so that they're visually different and easy for the players to distinguish between. I looked at the google doc and I really liked Todash's suggested chapter 1 (where Scuba-san is mistaken as a transfer student). I also agree that using anime style art for the sharks might be more appealing to a larger audience than following Hatoful Boyfriend's precedent of real images. I think creating a new subreddit for working on the game is a good idea. I'm assuming most people found this forum through reddit and likely visit reddit regularly. It'd probably be easier to keep people involved and invested if communications are on a site they already use a lot. I would also take a look at www.reddit.com/r/hawkthorne which is a subreddit fans of Community created so that they could work on an opensource game based off of an episode in the show. I think their project was relatively successful so we may want to follow their footsteps a bit. |

She thinks she's the epitome of beauty and is deeply offended by Scuba's initial reaction to her. She could be followed around by a group of remoras at all times, either as personal servants or just other students drawn to her for the sake of her money.
