Okay sharks and sharkettes, I know this is kind of a dry topic, but it's an important one. Since we have so many writers, there are a few consistency rules we're going to have to set.
The first one is whether we want the presence of a narrator or not. Since a narrator is a voice that must be consistent across all possible routes, I am against having one for the aforementioned reason of so many different authors. Any sort of action can be implied through simple animation and sound effects, and of course through the dialogue itself. If we want to show time passing, we can have succinct recaps such as: "Three hours of studying later..."
Another one is the voice of Scuba-kun. I don't think the options should be too hard to keep consistent, but if there's a consistency question about him, it should probably be asked in the Characters thread. Also to this end, I think all of our work should be transparent. I recommend that we have another sub-category under Writing Discussion where each person can post the writing they've done so far for their particular plot line and open it up to criticism.
If there are any other concerns about the style, form, or consistency, put 'em here.

I figured like most VNs that the narrator would be Scuba-kun himself. Since we're seeing the story through his eyes we'll be getting his internal monologue anyway, which is basically as good as having an actual narrator. As for the consistency of Scuba-kun himself I think it'll be easiest to determine his personality once all of the routes are proposed. I'm guessing that he's probably going to be perceptive and intelligent but generally a little bit underachieving, with a dry sense of humor and a penchant for sarcasm when it's not necessarily needed.
As far as other minor issues go the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that I love the Oxford comma. Please let's use it.

The issue with having a narrator for something like this is that the premise is that you are this character. You're seeing the world from his perspective at all times, effectively making him the narrator. Introducing an unrelated force to tell us things as they happen is just adding an unnecessary level of complexity to it.
As far as Scuba's personality goes, if we keep it to a few key elements, he shouldn't need too much more characterization right off the bat, since the point is to develop him through the choices along with the relationships.

Narration is definitely necessary. It's very hard to convey many actions using animations and event graphics alone(not to mention the time needed to create them); they should supplement the text, not write it. As mentioned above, most of the narration can be done through internal monologue by the main character. POV changes are also doable for short scenes, as they can add a lot to the story, but if we do decide to use them, they should be spread throughout all routes. I've also noticed that non-character narration can be a very powerful tool for certain scenes in visual novels, which is usually done using text through the whole page(there's a term for this, but I don't remember it). Its format is usually something along the lines of: link or link.
